It’s never planned. But every time I start a new piece, the same kind of character shows up. Someone no one expects, no one listens to, who survives anyway. Strong in a way that doesn’t show. Maybe it comes from the stories I grew up with. Maybe from everything I can’t stand. Where she comes from is a longer story.
